About the press
A small press for young readers.
Alderfold Press is an independent publisher of books for children and the grown-ups who read with them. We publish a few books, slowly, and we try to make each one worth reading for the fortieth time.
What we make
Our first books are picture books for reading aloud to young children. Each one is about a feeling a small child really has, like being scared on a big river or worried that a new baby will take up all the room. The books page lists every title with its age range.
Songs
Some of our books have a page you sing, set to a tune most grown-ups already know, like Row, Row, Row Your Boat. It lets a grown-up sing on the very first read, and it gives the child a part to join in with long before they can read the words. Books with a song are marked on the list.
The extras
Our current books end with a code that opens a bonus page: coloring pages drawn from the book's characters, activity sheets and a guide for grown-ups. They are free and need no sign-up.
Mira Selden
Our first books are written under the pen name Mira Selden. The illustrations were created with the help of AI image tools and then chosen, edited and assembled by the author, and we say so on the copyright page of every book.
The name
An alder is a riverside tree, and a fold is the crease down the middle of every picture book, where two pages meet. That crease is where we spend our time.
